BID TO CUT COUNCIL DIRECTORS

South Wales Evening Post - 2 April 2007

A Senior management job could be axed by Swansea Council saving up to £98,000 a year.

The authority's chief executive, Paul Smith, wants to combine the role of director of social services and housing with director of finance.

The job of finance director has been filled on a temporary basis since the retirement of Bob Carter last year.

The changes, which will see the number of department directors cut from seven to six, will have to be approved by members of the cabinet and the full council.
